Romantic monstruosity                                      2022-2023

Romantic Monstruosity, Bachelors collection 2023

My collection “romantic monstrosity” is based on the depths of my curious obsession, I have always been drawn to the mysterious appeal of things usually known as scary or repulsive. Whether it's a scary movie, an unconventional practice, or an intriguing body feature, I find myself captivated. It was only natural for me to channel this fascination into my creations, and the human body emerged as the centerpiece of my exploration.

What truly captivates me are the hidden facets, the ones that evoke a shiver down the spine and make people look away. I am deeply curious and interested in medicin and about the body—its remarkable ability to heal itself, the formation of scars, the poetry of body fluids, the hair in unexpected places, the evolution and transformation of skin, skin grafts, prothesis. Every detail, from the dryness to the moisture, from the curves to the weird bulges. I also find inspiration in the connection between humans and animals, drawing parallels from nature and incorporating elements such as animal hair into my work.

I aim to evoke a romantic monstrosity. Through my way of draping, textile designs, textures, patterns, and prints that emulate scars, different type of skin, body fluids, and other features that are typically hidden or said unattractive or monstrous

Films like Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut," David Lynch's "Twin Peaks," and Julia Ducournau's "Titane" resonated deeply with me. They are known for their exploration of the dark or hidden sides of human nature. They often delve into themes of secrecy, voyeurism, and the exploration of taboos. By capturing the atmosphere and sentiment of these films, I infused my collection with a sense of intrigue and mystery, challenging societal norms and pushing boundaries.
